private chat for the chain

Decentralizing transport...
// 04 — capabilities
A full chat experience that lives entirely on the open network. No accounts — your wallet is the only key. Lose access to your wallet's private keys and you lose access to every room and message tied to that address. No moderators to bribe. No servers to seize.
Connect MetaMask or any WalletConnect-compatible wallet. Sign a SIWE message to prove ownership. No email, no password, no recovery questions.
Every room has a 256-bit AES-GCM key generated on your device. Messages are encrypted before they leave you and only members holding the key can decrypt.
Messages travel over the Waku peer-to-peer network. There is no central database to hack, subpoena, or pull the plug on.
Create unlimited rooms. Share a 6-character code like ABC-123 instead of a long link. Joiners exchange keys over an encrypted handshake.
Slide into anyone's DMs without leaving the chain. Each DM topic is derived from the two wallet addresses and ratcheted symmetrically.
Layer a wallet allow-list on top of the room key. Only addresses on the list can post. The list syncs peer-to-peer between members.
// 05 — protocol descent
Tap connect. Approve a one-time Sign-In With Ethereum message. Your address is your identity — no servers see anything else.
Your client generates a random 32-byte AES-256-GCM key. That key is the room. Its hash becomes the Waku content topic.
Codes like ABC-123 derive a handshake key. The room key is encrypted with it and published to a join topic.
A joiner pulls the join topic from Waku Store, decrypts the room key, and is now equal to everyone else in the room.
Messages gossiped over Waku, decrypted on each member's device. DMs get their own per-pair topic.
// 06 — community token
Abyss is for the people who already understand why decentralization and privacy matter. The $ABYSS token aligns the community that hosts rooms, runs nodes, and ships features.
Token-gated channels for $ABYSS holders. Wallet-based allow-list means no Discord bots, no Telegram scams — just verified bag-holders.
Anyone can run a Waku relay. The token aligns incentives so the people keeping the lights on get rewarded.
The roadmap belongs to the people using the app. Holders vote on features, fees, and which rooms get promoted.
Token launch details will be published here. Connect once, get the alpha first.
// 07 — tokenomics
$ABYSS has a fixed total supply. Distributed to align the people who use, build, and sustain the network. Exact allocations will be confirmed before launch.
Total supply: TBA · All values subject to change before token launch.
// 08 — trajectory
A staged descent into the Abyss. Every quarter ships something the community can hold, use, and vote on. Dates are targets, not promises — the protocol is open, the build is honest.
▸ Holders vote on the order. The roadmap belongs to whoever shows up.
// 09 — faq
Yes. There is no backend server holding your messages. Every message travels over the Waku peer-to-peer network, encrypted end-to-end with a symmetric key that only members of the room hold.
$ABYSS is the community token that powers the Abyss ecosystem. It is designed to align the people who run nodes, build features, and host rooms. Token launch details will be published on this page when the token goes live.
No. Your Ethereum wallet address is your identity. You sign in by signing a SIWE message — Sign-In With Ethereum — which proves you control the wallet without revealing anything else.
Only people who hold the room key can decrypt the channel. Messages are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they ever leave your device. Even the relay nodes carrying them see only ciphertext.
Any wallet supported by WalletConnect — that's 550+ wallets including MetaMask, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Bitget, and more. MetaMask browser extension also connects directly.
Yes. Abyss is a PWA, installable on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux. Add to home screen and it behaves like a native app — offline cache, notifications, full-screen UI.
Your wallet is your identity. If you lose access to your seed phrase you lose access to your rooms — that is the trade-off you make for a system with no central account recovery. Protect your seed phrase like the key it is.
No signup. No download required. Connect a wallet and you are in.
