1. Software Provided "As Is"

Abyss is experimental software provided "as is" without any representations or warranties, express or implied. You use it at your own risk. The Abyss team, its contributors, and operators disclaim all liability for damages arising from the use of the App, including but not limited to data loss, privacy breaches, financial loss, or service interruptions.

2. No Content Responsibility

Abyss is a peer-to-peer communication tool. A relay node temporarily stores encrypted message payloads for delivery, but the operators of Abyss:

  • Cannot decrypt, read, or moderate messages (they are end-to-end encrypted; the relay node does not hold room keys)
  • Cannot remove, edit, or censor content transmitted through the Waku network
  • Do not control user-generated content — only encrypted, unreadable payloads pass through the relay
  • Are not responsible for any content created, shared, or received by users

Users are solely responsible for the content they transmit and for complying with applicable laws in their jurisdiction.

3. Encryption Disclaimer

Abyss uses AES-256-GCM symmetric encryption and cryptographic message signing. While these are industry-standard algorithms, no encryption system is guaranteed to be unbreakable. The security of your messages depends on:

  • The secrecy of the room key (shared via invite codes or links)
  • The security of your device and browser
  • The integrity of the wallet software you use
  • The ongoing security of the underlying cryptographic primitives

Abyss does not guarantee absolute privacy or security. Do not rely on it as the sole protection for information that requires the highest levels of confidentiality.

4. Cryptocurrency and Token Disclaimer

Any references to the $ABYSS token on this website or in the App are for informational purposes only and do not constitute:

  • Financial, investment, tax, or legal advice
  • An offer to sell or a solicitation to buy any security, commodity, or financial instrument
  • A guarantee of future value, utility, or returns

Cryptocurrency and digital tokens are volatile and risky. You may lose part or all of your investment. Always do your own research (DYOR) and consult a qualified financial advisor before making any investment decisions.

The Abyss team makes no representations regarding the legal status of the $ABYSS token in any jurisdiction. It is your responsibility to determine whether holding or using the token is legal where you reside.

5. Network Availability

Abyss relies on the Waku peer-to-peer network and a project-operated relay node. There is no guarantee of:

  • Uptime or availability of the messaging service
  • Message delivery or persistence
  • Backward compatibility with future versions

The network may experience downtime, message loss, or protocol changes without notice.

6. No Recovery

Abyss has no account system, no password recovery, and no backup service. If you lose your wallet, clear your browser data, or lose your device, your room keys and message history may be permanently lost. This is an inherent property of the decentralized design, not a bug.

7. Third-Party Services

Abyss integrates with third-party services (WalletConnect, Ethereum RPC providers, the Waku network). The Abyss team is not responsible for the availability, security, or privacy practices of these services.

8. Jurisdictional Notice

Abyss is available globally. It is the user's responsibility to ensure that their use of the App complies with local laws and regulations. The Abyss team does not represent that the App is appropriate or available for use in any particular jurisdiction.

9. Not Legal Advice

Nothing on this website or in the App constitutes legal advice. These documents are provided for informational purposes. Consult a qualified attorney for legal advice specific to your situation.
